The HTC Desire HD is the companion to the HTC Desire Z, but with bigger proportions. It is for those who like a large screen. Read on to discover more information on the Desire HD here in this informative article.

This smartphone will not fit into everyone’s pocket. It is a hefty handset with a good looking display. The outer measurements are 123 millimeters by 68 millimeters wide by 11.8 millimeters thick. That is 4.84 inches by 2.7 inches wide by .46 inch thick for those readers from the United States. It is 164 grams ( 5.27 ounces ) for weight.

Some of the major features of the HTC Desire HD display are its sensors and inputs. It comes with the now-normal accelerometer, a proximity sensor and multi touch input. It does not have Swype input. HTC gave the Desire HD a 480 by 800 megapixel resolution, which gets close to the iPhone. The screen is created with SLCD technology, not AMOLED or the older LCD format. This helps to save battery power, but is a bit darker than AMOLED.

Running the HTC Desire HD is a fast Qualcomm Snapdragon 1 gigahertz processor. This is fast enough to keep the smartphone user from experiencing lag while in use. It is accompanied by 1.5 gigabytes of internal memory and an impressive 768 megabytes of RAM.

The operating system has some superb features. If the user is on a call and lays the phone down on say, a table, the speakerphone will take over the call automatically. If the user is answering a call, the ringer can be quietened automatically as they pick up the smartphone. This helps to prevent loud ringer sounds direclty into the ear. The Android operating system allows this to be adjusted to the likings of the user. The Android system used in the HTC Desire HD is Froyo, version 2.2. This has been tested to be four times faster than the 2.1 version. The custom HTC Sense user interface makes the Android system palatable for those who like ease of use.

The battery in the Desire HD is rated for nine hours and 15 minutes of talk time on 2G networks. That goes down to five and a half hours for 3G. The camera is a fully-featured product with eight megapixels of photographic power. It is good enough to support high definition video in 720p format. The HD can be had in two colors, black or brown. A FM radio is thrown in for good measure. This HTC smartphone is priced around £415 pounds ( €359 euros ) and is available on the Vodafone network.
