Samsung Galaxy S II Hacking Improves 1080p Recording

Even with the minor issues plaguing the Galaxy S II Android smartphone, Samsung has managed to surpass weekly sales of the iPhone 4 in the UK. That said, many of the phones owners have been surfing the web for the latest hacks to improve or modify the performance of the device itself. Thanks to modder who is famed for his work with Symbian cameras, the camera of the Galaxy S II has been improved, improved to the point that the native 1080p video recording can be done at high bit rates with overall better encoding.

So far the hacker has been able to bring the 1080p recording to 24Mbps at 30fps with 44.1khz and 192kbit. That is a mark improvement over the out of box specs which read 16Mbps and records files in H.264 and AAC mono audio.

Unfortunately the hack is not as yet ready for the public, but those who are interested can keep an eye on hyperX’s page to see when said hack is released. Another member of XDA forums dubbed Potatoman has also added a hack of his own that improves the overall audio performance of the camera.

If you fancy picking up a Samsung Galaxy S II to try the hack out for yourself, click here for deals on the handset.
